State Approaches to Ensuring Quality for College in High School Programs

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many states, systems of higher education, and individual college in high school programs have been exploring alternative eligibility criteria other than standardized assessments to prove student readiness for college and close equity gaps in dual enrollment.

This resource provides information about why states or college in high school programs might want to explore alternative eligibility criteria for dual enrollment, what criteria they may wish to select, and examples of states who have adopted more equitable eligibility criteria.

Please note this resource was published in early 2020, and so does not include some of the recent statewide dual enrollment eligibility changes, like in Ohio and Florida.
